MAIL POUCH

Though I don't chew tobacco, I see these barns all over, and I'm sure they have a history behind them. If you come to Ohio, there is one barn in each county that is painted the same as all the others...see my opening blog picture, this is one of them. Anyway, I'm thinking of starting a collection of Mail Pouch pictures for no apparent reason. (This barn was found near Bedford Indiana).

You take some really neat pictures on your blog. I've never seen a Mail Pouch Tobacco Barn before. Here's a little more information from Wikipedia. They were advertisements for the West Virginia Mail Pouch chewing tobacco company from 1913 - 1992. Mail Pouch would paint the barn and also pay an annual fee for the advertisement. About 20,000 barns were painted across 20 states.
